Recently, we held our TAS Certification webinar, led by Alan Donovan, which is intended to cover all that is required for facilities to achieve their TAS Certification.
The Active Standard (also known as TAS) is a quality mark for the physical activity sector, developed by ukactive and its partners. The Active Standard is here to help you instill consumer confidence in the safety and inclusivity of your fitness and leisure facilities. Whether you’re a gym, leisure centre, or sports facility, The Active Standard offers a simple yet comprehensive certification process to ensure your operations meet the right industry standards.
The purpose of TAS is to consistently improve standards in the sector, helping to protect consumers and building members’ resilience to reputational and operational risk.

Initially launched by ukactive in November 2024, Right Directions was instrumental in the pilot phase of TAS, meticulously testing the assessment with a representative sample of operators to ensure the certification is fit for purpose for organisations of all types and sizes. Developed over a four-year period by ukactive in partnership with leading standards professionals and organisations across the UK and Europe, including Right Directions, TAS is now compulsory for ukactive member operators.
