Work Equipment
From poolside cleaning machines and grounds maintenance tools to lifting equipment, catering appliances, and workshop machinery, work equipment plays an essential role in the day-to-day operation of leisure facilities. However, if equipment is not selected, maintained, and used correctly, it can present significant risks to employees, contractors, customers, and visitors.
This course provides an introduction to work equipment safety and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998. Learners will explore what constitutes work equipment, employer and employee responsibilities, and the key legal requirements for ensuring equipment is safe, suitable, and properly maintained.
The course also covers how to select the right equipment for specific tasks, the safe use of mobile work equipment, training requirements, and the common types of equipment found across a range of leisure environments. Learners will gain an understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and the controls needed to reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
By the end of the training, learners will have a better understanding of how to use work equipment safely and compliantly, helping to protect themselves, their colleagues, and everyone who visits or works within their facility.
