New industry guidance has been issued on glycerol content in slush-ice drinks, advising that the drinks should not be sold to children four years of age and under.
The updated guidance follows an FSA (Food Standards Agency) risk assessment which found that children below this age may suffer from headaches and sickness caused by exposure to glycerol.
Are you aware of the risks associated with glycerol intoxication? Our safety alert outlines the new guidance, and raises awareness around glycerol intoxication in children. Please follow the link here to read the full safety alert: Food Safety Alert_Slush-Ice_2023
